DarkRyok. • 4 yr. ago. Pretty sure you can't change tether distance. However, if his pc is beefy enough, have him look at ark server manager. It will allow him to host the game on his pc, then you two can join that session. There will be no tether distance. If the pc isn't beefy, you next option is to look into renting a server for a monthly fee.

If you can set it up as a dedicated server then there will be no tether. You of course will need to host that somewhere, on a spare machine etc.. The only fix I have found is to uninstall and reinstall which is a total pain in the @$$. Getting tired of it and curious if anyone has an easier fix or if I should just abandon the game until they have a finished product in a few months or so. ...
