I know many of you have tried insulated pads like Thermarest and Klymit, and found that it was just much better to go for an underquilt in the long run. I pay another $50 or so for the double layer and my hammock gets heavier. If I end up realizing that using a pad is clearly inferior to an UQ, then I've blown it.

I am running into some confusion trying to calculated the total own needed for my underquilt. I know the formula is (l x W x h)/fill power * (% over stuff) There seems to be no consensus on the "h". Lash-it, Zing-it, Dynaglide, so on and so on are good options for either type of ridge line. Mason line is no good for a hammock ridgeline.
