Ultimately, one of the best things about Kingmaker in my opinion is that it has loads of room to add in material of your own, or even other adventures, to really help make the campaign feel personal to the party. There's lots of potential downtime throughout the campaign and plenty of room to explore back stories and the like. Its great, I have players who have played the game, and some who have no idea what's in store for them, and they all really enjoy it. This is largely do to things like the Unrest mechanic, which can severely punish the whole group for an improper order of operations (by a single player).
