The 795 is still the entry market and competes with the cheap Savages and other cheap entry 22s. I would think Ruger would want a piece of that action. I have a bunch of 10/22s but also have 2 795s. One was built just before and one just after Marlin was sold and manufacturing moved. Both are good guns.

I hear the 795 may be discontinued due to Marlin getting purchased by Ruger. This is disappointing because it is a fine rifle especially for its price.
