If you have a Remington Sportsman, it is basically a Remington 1100 and has a rubber gas seal "O" ring on the magazine tube. If it were to go bad the gun would trying to feed an additional round as well as failing to extract. There are plenty of mounts for the later 1100 model, but I've not seen one for the Model 48 or its cousin the Model 11-48. Like.wyogoob. This shotgun is the Remington 11-48 manufactured from '49 till '69. The 11-48 held 4 shells in the magazine, 5 total. The Sportsman 48 model came out later when new federal game laws limited the loaded gun to 3 shells. It's magazine would only hold 2 shells, 3 total in the shotgun.Our Assessment: This is a Remington Sportsman 48, an improved version of the Model 11, which was designed by the legendary John Moses Browning. This model was made by Remington from 1949-1960 and retains the long-recoil operating system of the Auto-5 with the now familiar receiver shape of the later models 870 and 1100.There was also a three shot version of the Model 11 called a Sportsman.
