so, I managed to fix it by telling it I needed to change my phone number. I used the Google voice app to get a new phone number. it then emailed me a verification code which let me log in, and then I was able to change my phone number back in the app directly. I got text messages through the Google voice number no problem.

Last time there were huge issues with the fast pay. So I don't recommend trying to use it if anyone is, because if if it fails and you don't get it, with it being Sunday you won't see any money til Tuesday. Just be patient and wait.
