It might be fine, and your issue is just the hub in front of it. its the operator fault. he is over stressing the engine. when the crank breaks on the 5-6 rod, its always a misuse of the engine. The operator over stress the engine. if its the 1-2 rod, the operator uses way too much the engine brake, or its running the motor at high rpm without load.

But a broken crank will have a vibration. The duramax engine has a long history of breaking cranks at that location. This is so much of a common issue that people have created cam shafts with altered firing orders to try to remove the stress from that point on the crank. Plenty of stock trucks have broken cranks like this.
