For diesels, mechanical injection is preferable to reduce complexity inherent in the wiring of CRDs. To max out the stock set up you might want to hook up a Pressure Gauge to your Intake Manifold and see how much boost your Turbo is giving. I believe the max stock boost is 12 psi. After that is adjusting the ALDA. The ALDA limits the max available Fuel when there is no boost pressure from the Turbo. The 2874 cc (2.9 L) It was available in either naturally aspirated or turbocharged variants with two valves per cylinder. The camshafts and injection pump are driven by duplex chain from the crankshaft. A separate single-row chain drives the oil pump.LOTS of cutting and fitting but maybe it's an easier fit in a Ranger. The exhaust is pretty simple - just a pipe out of the engine bay. The first section of the Mercedes pipe will make the exhaust work easier. Any radiator for a 5.0/Ranger swap should handle the cooling.
