1 post · Joined 2012. #1 · Jul 27, 2012. I'm almost at my wits end on the oil consumption problem with my 2008 CTS 3.6. I thought i would list all the repairs that have been done under warranty and see if anybody could provide some insight as to what could be next. First of all the car was using 2qts of oil every 1000 miles.
The problem is as follows: 1. Starter relay clicks and goes dead, restart a couple times and it may start. 2. Do the same for the mating surface of the body. Once totally clean, make sure both the seal and the body are 100% dry. Now apply some vinyl dressing to the door seal. Let it soak in a little then reapply.

My 2008 CTS AWDs drive shaft crapped at 67k miles. $3700 to repair the bastardized transmission GM originally pieced together using GMC truck components per my transmission man at Brownies in Beavercreek Ohio. They had to replace several good parts that didn't mate up with the replacement shaft.Didn’t count any misfires at idle, but still very rough. Not full combustion on all cylinders for sure. Later noticed 3 started counting misfires at about 1000 RPM, and 6 started counting at 1500 RPM, but they still stayed no more than 2 counts different from one another.
