I have a Samsung TV and the remote does allow you limited STB functions. But it requires an IR TX to be in front of STB. You didn't pair the remote with STB. You just had t go in to TV settings to choose the correct model STB. I just checked it and it works fine. I also have IPC1100.If the soundbar only has optical then you would need two remotes. If it had hdmi, and once the Roku tv recognizes it a cec device, then if the Verizon remote can control the tv volume, it will also control the soundbar volume too.
