I grew up showing horses around the country and have gained a little over 500 hours shadowing equine vets in the past 8 months. I also have about 150 hours volunteering in animal rescues and fostering sick dogs.Then class usually starts back at 1:10 and we might have one or two classes getting done at 2 or 3. On Thursdays, we get done at 2, but some people have a 2 hour lab or tutorial, others have a break, then we have a class from 4-5. Thursdays are usually the only 9-5 days. While I don't know anything specifically about NC State, I do know that, just because you get into vet school, it doesn't mean you are guaranteed to get your DVM. Professors are allowed to fail students, and several per year at other vet schools are either held back to repeat a year or drop out all together.

It's a small town which I preferred. Just a note though about gaining residency. You can't gain residency while you're in undergrad.

Luckily, quite a few prerequisites are similar between pre-vet and pre-med (I think), so you can probably take more time to get more experience and decide.
