Depending on your fitness level the 12kg may be heavy or light (obviously) so adjust. If too light, do 10 sets of 15.

Kettlebells are great for certain goals. For building up muscle mass, they are not ideal, but for a "all purpose" sort of training (flexibility, cardio, a little strength, endurance, core training), kettlebell swings are really good. 20 mins of a hard kettlebell circuit session is a decent way of hitting most bodyparts.Ader Kettlebells are another popular variety of bells here at r/kettlebell. The bell itself is a nice size with a …The simple, brutal training session is this: 10 sets of 5 reps with double kettlebells (General Recommendations: 24 kg for strong males, 16 kg for those newer to kettlebells. 8, 12, or 16 kg for females depending on strength and experience), rest as needed between sets, keeping rest time at approximately 60-90 seconds.

Both will provide resistance. Dumbbells typically come in finer increments, giving you better opportunity to progressively overload the muscle. With kettlebell, you may only have the option of going from a light Bell to a heavy Bell. For example, I have 25 and 50lb bells, but my gym has dumbbells in 5 lb increments.

Many will recommend a smallest weight of 16kg but for me, my 12kg is a valuable part of my warmup. I like using 12 for halos and the hip thrust/lift or whatever it's called, 16kg for sumo deadlifts, and 20kg for 2h swings and TGUs. I wasn't strong when I started so the 12kg was helpful for learning correct form. 3.Competition bells: bells of steel and it’s not even close. For that simple fact, building muscle and strength would always benefit from a barbell. The kettlebell is a useful implement because it fills in gaps that you can't really fill with a lot of barbell, dumbbell, or bodyweight training.
