I've got to admit, I've fallen in love with this subreddit, and polishes and nail art in general. I've started spending my lunch breaks from work, across the road at the cosmetics counter looking and purchasing gorgeous shades, and pretty new fan-dangled nail trends (magnetic polishes, anyone?). I usually paint mine weekly, sometimes more often, because I like changing colors. Most brands I can usually get to last 4-5 days without chipping, but it also depends on what I'm doing with my hands.

I soak my hands in warm water with a little bit of a moisturizing hand soap (just a few drops, it seems to help soften up the skin) then use the Sally Hansen cuticle remover. I leave it on for about 30-45 seconds even though the bottle says 15 seconds, then push the articles back and wash hands. Because this is living skin, clipping it will cause it to callus and grow back hard and cracked (this is because the skin is basically trying to defend itself). I used to constantly clip mine and struggled with dry and cracked proximal nail fold. Give your nails a light buff with a buffing block and wipe with acetone before applying. The trick is to find the balance because if you use too much glue, you'll flood and then get big dried crusties. Acrylics aren't ruining your natural nails. It's the mother-frakking drill that techs use. You don't swipe it on quickly. You put a nice head of it on slowly. This is the finish topcoat so you want it nice and smooth. Nothing fast with nail polish is ever smooth so do this slow and steady. It's dry to the touch in a few minutes and indestructible in about 30 min.Top 3% r/lacqueristas. Red is so unforgiving! Like it was said already, cuticle remover, or a Russian manicure, so using a flame medium drill tip you can eat right through the cuticle. If you're using a diamond bit on a lower speed it's a bit harder to mash through living skin so I'd say give that a try.
