I've been loading old AA and Remington hulls, longshot powder, win 209 primers, Remington sp20 wads, and 1 oz of 7.5 shot. On the patterning board they looked good. But in the field today, oh my goodness. 40 yard crossers were crumpling up like paper wads. This combo was lie the hammer of Thor! Now I'm sure y'all are expert dove shooters.

There's no question that they work in 7/8 oz. loads, but the question he was asking is about a replacement wad for the Rem. SP 20 wad, which is a 1 oz. 20 ga. wad. Down range makes no wad specificlly for 1 oz. loads, but their short DRV wad, coupled with the longer STS case, just might let you load 1 oz. loads. DLM

When I moved up to a MEC 9000 reloader, the results still were not good, perhaps even worse. I tried increasing the wad pressure to 60 – 70 lbs but I was told by MEC that I should not do that. MEC recommended either Downrange wads or Remington RPX wads. I tried the Down Range wads and the Remington wads and I prefer the Remington wads.

However, the windjammer 20 ga. wad looks promising, if you can find any. Some of the Euro wads are said to have 1 oz. shot cups but they don't look like they will hold an oz. of shot to me.

The "S" designation was added later when they stitched the petals together. The RXP 20 is 1.585" long with a shot cup depth of .890" = 7/8 oz. These results are hardly statistically significant, but the two DRV-20's that I recovered from the patterning board this weekend collapsed perfectly and the wad petals peeled back symmetrically.
