It clearly out-resolves most of the consumer-grade monochrome film and all the cheap color film. It is only slightly softer at f/2.8-4, so you can use it in low light situations with ISO400 film with no issue. It isn’t a far cry from any of the modern DLSRs, which doesn’t make it all to difficult to go from digital to analogue. The Canon EOS-1 can be found at a reasonable price, at around the £100 for a decent copy. You can spend a little bit extra on the EOS-1N which does feature five focus points and more weather sealing.
