A hundred years ago Charles Daly guns were as good as any in the world, but in recent years their quality has ranged from OK to garbage, depending on who made them.

The 601 field model "for the money" Is an Excellent shotgun. It has a rubbed finish on the wood that I believe to be Turkish walnut. It is very smooth but has no applied coating of any kind on the wood. The metal is finished in non glossy black.
