For the money in a carry gun, the CDP is the better buy, unless you can find an Ultra TLE II. Checkering and night sights for under $1k. Super Carry pistols are available in three sizes. The Super Carry Custom™ has a 5-inch barrel and full length grip. The Super Carry Pro™ has a 4-inch bushingless barrel and full length grip. Resale on the CDP's is fast. Frontstrap checkering is nice, but on the alloy frame, it is sensitive to large rings. Pro TLE II seems better choice if two tone and service melt and ambi is not required. With TLE you still have night sights, and front strap checkering. Pro Carry II is a Base model. Some details: The Kimber Pro Carry II is a 4" barrel alloy frame pistol. The Colt Combat Commander is a 4.25" steel frame pistol. If you want to compare similar models the Pro Carry II HD is all steel, compares better to the Combat Commander. The Colt Lightweight Commander has an alloy frame, compares better to the Pro Carry. The Kimber and the Springfield 3-inch 1911s were essentially the same size, but the thicker G-10 grips on the Kimber made it a bit wider and it filled the hand better. Advantages/Disadvantages. Clearly, the more compact and lighter 3-inch 1911s are easier to carry—and that’s important.

The Ultra is an officer's frame with a 3 inch Bull Barrell. Both have aluminum frames and the Schwartz safety system. I have two kimbers, a full size Custom II and an Ultra Elite. For carry I like the ultra alot more as it is smaller, lighter, and alot quicker for point and shoot type situations. IMHO Kimber is a fine weapon for the price.

Here's one I can speak from experience on. I own both. The Ultra Carry is a stainless model with alloy frame and of course the Glock I reference is the 36. Kimber weighs 25.0 oz. and 8 rounds capacity. Glock 36 weighs 20.0 oz. and 7 rounds capacity. Side by side they both carry great.
